involving two cars and a big rig shut down several lanes of highway 101 in san francisco until after 10 p.m. we're told there are no injuries -- there are some injuries but they appear to be not serious. >>> and developing news out of half moon bay where a single- engine plane took off early this morning and hasn't been seen since. cbs 5 reporter lindy is in san mateo county with what we've learned. >> reporter: the information we're getting is still preliminary, but this is what we know at this hour from a spokesman with the faa. a small plane did leave half moon bay just before 6:00, headed to tucson, arizona, with a scheduled fuel stop at apple valley, california, just north of san bernardino. the faa spokesman said it was a single had f engine, a plane similar to the one in this photograph. the pilot's wife reported that the plane was overdue when it failed to show up on schedule at the regional airport in tucson. it is not known at this hour if any search is underway. that is the information we know at this hour. linda yee reporting live in san mateo county. >>> thousands of dollars

at downtown san francisco where it got up to 91 degrees today. right now it's still in the 70's. it's beautiful outside. but it's so hot and try that in oakland, extreme fire danger signs have gone up in the hills. meteorologist paul deanno is in our weather center now. paul? >>> that 91 degrees in san francisco and also oakland, the hottest day of the year. i told you it was coming and told we got it. san francisco, 91. oakland, 91. the hottest day of the year, ranking no. 1 for the calendar year. san jose, you were hotter at 94. that was the second hottest day of your year. concord, at 97, the ninth warmest day of the year. walnut creek, 99. that was bested by santa cruz, 100 degrees at the coast. golden gate park, 84. and a half moon bay, 74. fire danger elevated because of the temperature and also because we're running at 11% of average rainfall since july 1. one more note, 12,000 homes lost power in berkeley with scattered outages because a transformer blew. we called pg&e looking for a cause. it may be weather related. but some folks are without their air conditioning tonight.

paul deanno with the forecast. boy, do we see a big change, especially in downtown san francisco. we literally changed seasons in like two hours. look at the difference between 4:00 yesterday and 4:00 this afternoon. 94, down to 64. 30-degree drop in one day. in downtown oakland, you had the same thing. 95 yesterday. this afternoon, only 71 degrees. beautiful shot of the tower. marine layer still pretty thin but we are getting chilly. san jose, you're at 62. and livermore, currently 64 degrees. overnight tonight we're looking at low 50's for fremont, redwood city. san rafael, 51. napa, 51. san francisco dropping down to 54. that low pressure area that was to our south giving us an offshore wind is now off to our west, grabbing the influence from the cool pacific ocean. that means cloud cover in the morning and definitely some cooler afternoons. this weekend, so many events going on. it's going to be chilly. near the bay, highs only in the upper 60's. next week, low pressure will be right over us, giving us the chance of scattered showers next monday and tuesday. for tomorrow, the coo
